The THE Ranking takes into account a balance of different indicators from the areas of research, teaching, academic publications, industry income and international outlook. This allows the renowned Times Higher Education (THE) magazine from London to offer an international yardstick that is based on the world’s best higher education institutions. Universities from 99 countries and territories were included in the current ranking for 2022.
The ranking enjoys international repute and is viewed as the most significant university ranking globally that is created exclusively through active participation by the universities. Prof. Dr. Stefan Marschall, Vice-President for International Relations and Science Communications at HHU, had this to say: “That fact that we as a state university are in the top 18% globally demonstrates our strong academic quality and the international focus in our research and teaching. This success shows that HHU stands up to international comparison.”
HHU achieved a particularly strong score for ‘Citations’, which refers to the number of times that work by an academic at HHU is cited by another scholar. This score reflects a university’s reach in terms of global dissemination of its findings and ideas over the past six years, thus indicating its influence at an international level.
